I either make or order glass from a glass shop for end out tanks. I just depends on how many tanks I need covers for at a given time. I do not use styrofoam under any of my tanks-incluiding 2 125's and a 210. It's not a bad idea though. An inside wall SHOULD be more temperature stable then an outside wall. But you know your basement and how the temps are in it better then I do!

Thanks Jeff. Here are some more questions: If the tanks are end-out will I have to make my own glass tops, or are there other options? Is it necessary to put any foam board under the aquariums, especially something bigger like a 40 breeder? For heating reasons would it be better to put the rack against an interior wall? Scott

Just looking now any ideas help. I just worry about the 84 degree water. I am afraid it will be rough on the African cichlids I put in the tank.

Don't use the magdrive as an in-line (external) pump. They have a pretty weak seal between the impellar cover and the body so they are prone to leaking. Which Quiet One pump model are you looking at? For my money-brand aside for the time-I'd get a true external pump and not a "hybrid" submersible or external model as a true external pump should last longer and cause fewer leaking issues. Jeff

OK I am going to change the water pump on my 135 gallon tank. I just can't get the water below 83 degrees with the Aqueon submersible. I am looking for an external pump. Any ideas? I saw two brands that might work a Quiet One and Mag Drive at THATFISHPLACE.COM TANK
