Something to look into in the future.  Let's build some membership and traffic first though!  Chicken or egg...would the chat bring in more people?

Not sure what Suhongy meant by 'falls on deaf ears', but I struggle with this site.  I am new to this hobby, and I lurk almost daily on this site to learn how to spawn differenty types of fish.  I think I have posted 8 questions in the past, getting virtually no responses.  I sense that there are many MAS members who either dont have computers or dont get them online.  
I think it would be a grand idea to set aside MAS meeting time (or an after meeting discussion) to introduce how to get online for some of the folks that may be intimidated by the world wide web.  I bet there are some of us that have spare computers to even give out, to get folks online.  (is anyone aware of a free internet service anymore?  Like NetZero once was?)
 
BTW, I have never attended a MAS meeting, and intend to remedy that in February!

I log into the wisconsinreefsociety website often, and there is constant banter between the members on oodles of topics.  I learn loads from following the discussions.

I check in here multiple times a day.  I pretty much ignore the classified sections, however, but that is where most of the action is.  I am more than willing to post answers to questions, but we are averaging one new post per week in all the sections other than sell/want.... and some of those should be in the sell/want!    Not sure why this forum is not taking off.  It has been around long enough.
 
Chat is volume driven.  If you get a lot of people on the forum at one time you get people in chat.  I rarely catch anyone in here when I am here.  Adding chat is not hard, but someone needs to find a free chat program that will work.  The $5 Flash Chat is buddy (I know from using it at apistogramma.com) and better chat programs are in the $40 - $100 price range.
 
It would help a lot if people who are on the forum were also coming to the meetings.  That is the best way to get that 'personal' touch to communication.

Check out the IAA . they have a nice Ajax live chat room.
Bet they would be willing to explain and help set it up with you.

Also consider a live Web-cam feed.
I might even consider  sitting in on one if it was run during a meeting .
I am too far away to come in person , but would love to participate via the web.
