Robert Shields to speak at September meeting

We’re excited to host Robert Shields at our September meeting, held September 20 at the New Berlin Ale House. He will be giving his presentation, “Into the llanos of Colombia in search of the “W” pike.”

Robert Shields has been involved in the aquarium hobby for more than 40 years and has been active in the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association since 1995. He is a wildlife biologist, specializing in birds, reptiles & amphibians and bats of California. He has kept and bred many species of cichlids, livebearers and killis over the years with an emphasis on dwarf cichlids of West Africa and South America. When the opportunity was presented to him to travel to Colombia and see the fish of his dreams, he jumped. Along the way to observe and capture fish, a land of beautiful birds, butterflies, insects, bats and warm people was found.

Our meetings are free to the public and you do not have to be a member to attend. Doors open at 6:30 and the meeting starts promptly at 7.  Following our guest presenter, we’ll have a mini-auction and all are invited to stay after for dinner and a chance to socialize with other members.
